NOTICE OF SEWER RATE INCREASE AND PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on November 14, 2024, the Town Council of the Town of Cascade, Montana (the “Town”), adopted a Resolution of Intention of the Town of Cascade, Montana to Increase Rates for the Users of the Sewer System.
The Town has determined that it is necessary for the Town to increase its sewer rates to collect sufficient revenues to pay the costs associated with the operation and maintenance of the sewer system (the “System”), to pay and provide for sewer system revenue bonds, and to establish appropriate reserves.
The Town currently charges users of the System a monthly base rate of $31.78 per Equivalent Dwelling Unit (EDU), as follows:

The Base Rate for RV Parks, motels and hotels is calculated assuming four lots equals 1 EDU ($31.78). The Base Rate for the school is calculated using the 3” meter size ($508.44). All individual dwelling units and multiple dwelling units within the limits of the Town are charged the Base Rate of $31.78 per living unit.
In addition to the base rate, the Town charges all users of the System a monthly usage fee of $3.38 per 1,000 gallons of water or portion thereof used per user per month (the “Usage Fee”), calculated using the average gallons per month used for the months of December through February. The current monthly charge is equal to the base rate plus the usage fee.
Effective as of the January 2025 billing, the Town proposes to increase the Base Rate to $43.00 per EDU, as follows:

The Proposed Base Rate for RV Parks, motels and hotels is calculated assuming four lots equals 1 EDU ($43.00). The Proposed Base Rate for the school is calculated using the 3” meter size ($688.00). All individual dwelling units and multiple dwelling units within the limits of the Town would be charged the Proposed Base Rate of $43.00 per living unit.
The Town proposes to maintain the Usage Fee in effect at the current rate of $3.38 per 1,000 gallons of water or portion thereof used per user per month, calculated using the average gallons per month used for the months of December through February. The proposed monthly charge is equal to the Proposed Base Rate plus the Usage Fee.
The Proposed Base Rate of $43.00 represents an increase of approximately 35% over the current Base Rate of $31.78.
A public hearing on the rate increase will be held on December 12, 2024, commencing at 6:00 p.m. at Cascade Town Hall, 9 Front Street North, in Cascade, Montana.
